Lesson Outcomes
After completing this practical lesson, learners will be able to:
- Interact professionally with business analysts and stakeholders
- Analyse “as is” and “to be” business processes
- Participate ethically in workflow discovery activities
- Gather and document automation requirements
- Communicate effectively during process analysis activities
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary automation teams
Overview
The analysis and discovery stage is an important part of the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) life cycle because it establishes the foundation for workflow automation, business process understanding, and solution planning. During this stage, RPA developers work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand the current process (“as is”) and the future automated process (“to be”).
This practical lesson introduces learners to ethical communication, stakeholder interaction, requirement gathering, workflow discovery, process analysis, and collaborative teamwork within automation environments. Learners will complete practical activities involving interaction with business analysts and participation in automation discovery processes.
Scenario: Evidence Collection Automation Project
A law firm plans to automate its evidence collection process to improve efficiency and reduce manual administrative tasks.
The organisation has assigned a multidisciplinary team consisting of business analysts, RPA developers, and operational staff to analyse the current workflow and define the future automated process.
Learners are required to participate ethically and effectively during the analysis and discovery stage by interacting with the business analyst, understanding workflow requirements, and contributing to discussions regarding the “as is” and “to be” processes.
